The Chainlink Community Grant Program provides financial resources to the many development teams and researchers building a more functional, accessible, and socially impactful Chainlink Network. We encourage talented individual developers and development teams to apply to the grant program here, or if you are a researcher and want to collaborate, contact us.
We’re excited to announce that Protofire, a development workshop for decentralized protocols, has been selected as a recipient of a community grant to perform a native integration of Chainlink into the Polkadot-based smart contract platform Plasm and and Plasm’s Kusama implementation Shiden. The integration will enable Plasm and Shiden developers to use Chainlink oracles to securely interact with a wide variety of external data feeds and off-chain computations, ultimately creating a more robust smart contract ecosystem. Not only will this bring Chainlink Price Feeds to DeFi projects launching on the Plasm and Shiden networks, but it will open up development for a broader set of use cases across NFTs, gaming, insurance, and numerous other industries.
As part of the grant, Protofire will facilitate the integration by:
- Validating and adapting Chainlink contracts to ensure native compatibility with the Plasm and Shiden networks
- Testing and deploying all Chainlink components to the Plasm and Shiden mainnets, with continual maintenance and upgrades
- Providing automated testing to verify the integration of the Plasm and Shiden networks with Chainlink
- Creating documentation showing how developers can integrate with Chainlink on the Plasm and Shiden networks
Protofire is a widely recognized provider of development and consultancy services around blockchain. The company has extensive experience in building decentralized protocols, developer tools, and smart contracts. Their team has contributed their development resources to numerous leading blockchain-based projects, including Gnosis, The Graph, Maker, Tezos, 0x, Kyber Network, Synthetix, etc. We have previously awarded Protofire grants for the integration of Chainlink oracles into both the xDai blockchain and Avalanche network, as well as to build a Chainlink Testnet faucet for EVM-compatible chains. The success of their past work makes Protofire a strong recipient to expand Chainlink into Plasm.
The Plasm Network is a scalable smart contract platform on Polkadot, with a multi-virtual machine, Ethereum compatibility, and support for layer 2 solutions like OVM and ZK-Rollups. It’s built using the Parity Substrate blockchain framework and designed to be a Polkadot Parachain. Plasm Network is one of the first Polkadot testnet parachains and also launched Shiden Network—a canary network of Plasm that aims to become the first parachain on Polkadot with Plasm.
“We’re excited to be awarded another Chainlink community grant, this time to integrate Chainlink’s leading oracle solution directly into the Plasm Network,” stated Christian Malfesi, Director of Engineering at Protofire. “As a highly experienced development shop that has already successfully ported Chainlink into other blockchains, we look forward to using our expertise to bring Chainlink oracle functionality and solutions to Plasm developers, empowering them to build a wide variety of advanced smart contract applications connected to real-world data and off-chain computation.”
Through the Chainlink Community Grants program, we look forward to continuing to empower more and more Chainlink ecosystem teams, researchers, and social impact projects who are both researching and building key tools and infrastructure that accelerate the development of universally connected smart contracts, secure oracle networks, and impactful technology that improves the world. We will continue supporting the community as a key driver of Chainlink’s rapid growth, because only together can we make universally connected smart contracts into the dominant form of digital agreement.
